Look for information on this dynamic program for high school students!  We meet on Sunday at 6:15 pm following our Life Teen Mass at 5 pm.  The Mass features the Life Teen Band with uplifting, contemporary Christian music and liturgical ministry roles held by our youth members.

Life Teen wants YOU!

….if you are in high school grades 9-12, that is!  Our regular meeting time is right after the 5pm Mass  - from 6-8 pm in PAC Hall. We met throughout the summer for social events – mini golf, trips to the beach, frozen yogurt nights, games – and a trip in July to the Steubenville Atlanta Conference.  We have good things in store for this year as well , but you won’t know unless you come and see! New members are always welcome and it’s never too late to join!  For more information contact Susan Starr, Director of Youth Ministry, at ym@saintmichaelsc.net.  We hope to see you soon!

The group picture below shows what our spaghetti dinner helps make possible every year.  That is one of our major fundraisers that takes place at the end of February.  In the past, 31 teens and 9 core members have attended the annual Diocesan Youth Conference at White Oak. Look at all those smiling faces! This is one of the largest groups we have ever taken to this conference. The teens were challenged to go deeper in their faith with a weekend of skits, keynote speakers, workshops, Mass, and Eucharistic Adoration , all revolving around the theme “Stand Up – Stand Out – Stand Together!”  The Spaghetti Dinner completely pays for the charter bus and assists with registration fees for students whose families are experiencing financial difficulty. We also were able to purchase a really cool tee shirt for our group with our tips!  It was a great weekend – one that we look forward to every year!

“Even though you are young, the time for action is now! It is time to let your light shine! Remember, Christ is calling you; the Church needs you!”  ~Pope John Paul II

The Middle School Youth Group  is offered for 7th & 8th Grade students on Sunday at 10:15 am in the Parish Activity Center (PAC).  Registration takes place during the month of August. Classes begin in September on the first Sunday after Labor Day.   Meetings are structured in the Youth Ministry learning model so that the students are challenged spiritually, intellectually, and kinesthetically. These classes also prepare the students for the sacrament of Confirmation, which is a two-year program at St. Michael.

In addition to classes, there are social events planned throughout the year for the students to gather with each other for fun and fellowship.  Some examples of these gatherings are an "open gym" night, game night, movies, etc.

There are also Diocesan weekend retreats throughout the year for these students.  They get together with youth from all over the Diocese to experience fellowship and faith enrichment in a dynamic and inspiring setting.  This is one of the many ways we help to encourage our young people on their faith journey through Confirmation and beyond.

Along with weekly meetings, members are expected to participate in the ministries at the 5 PM LifeTeen Mass on Sundays.    Contact the parish Director of Religious Education (see Parish Staff Listing) for more details.
