Becoming Catholic

Heading 65

If you are interested in becoming Catholic, the process starts with the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults(OCIA). OCIA are Classes that helps prepare and teach you along the spiritual and personal journey of becoming Catholic.

Generally, the OCIA journey culminates on Easter Vigil when candidates are fully initiated into the Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion.

Already Catholic But Drifted?

Welcome back, we are glad you are here!

If you were raised Catholic but have been away from the church for some time, and are looking to come back home. There isn't one definitive answer. Here are some ideas.

  • Join OCIA: OCIA is the process to receive sacraments you might have missed, or just an opportunity to learn more about our Faith and the traditions of the Catholic Church. Learn more about OCIA here!
  • Attend Mass: The Mass is not only a place to participate in the community and hear God's word. It is how we participate in Christ's death and resurrection. Starting to attend Mass on Sundays is a great way to come back to your faith! Just remember not to receive communion unless you have gone to Confession first.
  • Go to Confession: If you are ready to fully come back to the Church, the first step is going to Confession. Learn more about Confession here!
  • Read: If you want to learn more, but OCIA doesn't really fit your schedule, reading is another great way to learn more about the Catholic faith and traditions. Some lightweight reading recommendations would be This is Our Faith by Michael Pennock and Rediscovering Catholicism by Matthew Kelly. Don't forget about the Gospels, where we can personally meet Jesus.
